Note about Real-Time (RT) and Ultra Real-Time (URT) data
Real-Time (RT) and Ultra Real-Time (URT) data is available through these services: RT and URT data are removed when corresponding NRT detections are processed or RT/URT is older than 6 hours.
Coming soon: RT and URT data as part of the CSV, ShapeFile and KML/KMZ Active Fire downloads

NASA EOSDIS defines Real-Time as data that is made available within 60 minutes of satellite overpass. URT is much quicker than that. FIRMS makes URT data available in less than 60 seconds of satellite fly over for much of the US and Canada

Shapefiles

Active fire detection GIS data

Download active fire detection data in Esri shapefile format. The shapefiles consist of centroids of MODIS, VIIRS and LANDSAT pixels identified as active fire detections and all fire detection attributes.

Google Earth KML

Active fire detection centroid KMLs/KMZs

Download MODIS, VIIRS and LANDSAT active fire detection data in KML/KMZ format. The KMLs/KMZs consist of the centroids of pixels identified as an active fire detection, displayed as fire icon, and access to essential fire detection attributes.

Active fire detection footprint and centroid KMLs/KMZs

Download MODIS, VIIRS and LANDSAT active fire detection data in KML/KMZ format. The KMLs/KMZs depict active fire detections as the estimated area outline and centroid points for each pixel identified, symbolized based on time since detection, and access to essential fire detection attributes.

Updated once every 10 minutes. Provides Near Real-Time, Real-Time and Ultra Real-Time data.
